AUSTRALIA DAY 2014
Jamieson celebrated Australia Day in fine style on the banks of the Jamieson River, at the end of Perkins Street. In beautiful summer sunshine, Councillor Russell Bate spoke about the recent history and about the robustness of the town as a community. Russell also presented the Jamieson Community Plan to Chris Badrock, President of the Jamieson Community Group. This was followed by a rendition of the National Anthem and the raising of the flag. Finally, local poet Ken Hopkinson gave an animated recital of some very Australian poems.To sustain the many onlookers, the CFA also provided a free sausage sizzle.
HIGH COUNTRY ROD MUSTER 2014
Jamieson hosted the 8th Annual Rod Muster and the event was bigger, brighter and more fantastic than ever. The weather was magnificent, the music was so fitting, and the spirit was really really good. A big thanks again to Ben and Jan Tweedly for putting so much work into this event. It is a real credit to them.
SPRING 'AUSSIE ICON' BALL 2014
Jamieson had its regular Spring Ball on the first weekend of September, this year with a theme of "Aussie Icons". The night was hilarious, with some very creative costumes, not just by local Jamieson residents, but also by the invited guests, particularly David Roff of Mansfield Shire and his wife Kathy. 50% of the proceeds go toward the Mansfield Regional Hospital. So we were particularly pleased that a little community like Jamieson could raise over $7,000 dollars on one evening. A huge thanks to the ever enthusiastic residents of Jamieson.
WINE {BEER, CIDER} & CHEESE NIGHT 2014
Jamieson hosted its 33rd Wine and Cheese Night on 11th October, with the addition of some boutique beers and cider. The atmosphere was great, the fun and smiles were everywhere, and the auction generated welcome funds for the Jamieson Primary School. A big thanks again to Genevieve and her crew of helpers for putting the event together.
JAMIESON AUTUMN FESTIVAL 2014
In Autumn, Jamieson is especially beautiful when the many European trees bring vibrant colours to the streets and to the surrounding paddocks. To celebrate both the history and the colours, Jamieson hosted a series of fun and functional activities over the weekend of 21-23 March 2014 (NOTE: For 2015 onwards, the Jamieson Autumn Festival will be in early May). The activities showcased the diversity of talent among local personalities, and included demonstrations of blacksmithing and bush cooking, workshops in landscape painting and pottery, displays of fly fishing and whip cracking, recitals of bush poetry and street buskers.
For the more active visitors, there was a family quiz trail/treasure hunt and a gold nugget throwing competition. Of coure, there was also music in the pubs on Friday and Saturday afternoon/evening, as well as music and poetry in the Café.
It was such a success that we will be holding the Autumn Festival again in 2015, but this time a little more into Autumn, on 2nd May. Keep an eye this website and on the Jamieson Community Facebook page for details of this year's event.. We look forward to seeing you there!

Jamieson celebrated Australia Day in fine style, as usual, on the banks of the Jamieson River, at the end of Perkins Street. In beautiful summer sunshine, Community Group president Chris Badrock paid tribute to the strong spirit of volunteerism in Jamieson. The presentation was followed by a rendition of the National Anthem by Genevieve and Ian Bolwell and the raising of the flag by CFA Captain Grant McRostie. Finally, local poet Ken Hopkinson gave a typically animated recital of some very Australian poems. To sustain the many onlookers, the CFA also provided a free sausage sizzle. So many onlookers that the sausages ran out before the end of proceedings.
ANZAC DAY 2015
ANZAC Day was a very special day in 2015 because it was the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli and therefore of the origin of the term ANZAC. The weather was not very kind to those who gathered at 6:00AM but their determination was undiminished. The weather had improved considerably by 11:00AM for the parade. Euan Ferguson, Head of CFA, gave the talk in the Hall before everybody went to the pub for lunch and a round of two-up.
